Bird watching in the Austrian Alps: From the lake to the ice mountains
Zell am See is an excellent spot for bird watchers. Lake and creek pastures as habitat for a variety of water birds.
The highlands with their forests and alpine pastures give home to all kinds of song- and gallinaceous birds.
The high mountain region is the empire of majestic birds of prey like bearded vultures and golden eagles.
The bird´s world is more and more subject to international interest. "Nationalpark Hohe Tauern" is already getting international involved, "Burg Hohenwerfen" has put up a falconer´s museum and cultivates the tradition of the medieval falconry.
After having had some impressive experience we have made up our mind to become drop-in centre for admirer of the bird´s world and so we have built up some holiday specials in our hotels.
