Skiing paradise Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn and Saalbach-Hinterglemm

The Schmittenhöhe mountain is our local mountain and probably Austria's mountain with the most beautiful views. It is a paradise for all skiers and offers 77km of best primed ski slopes for your skiing experience.

Seasoned skiers will love the Schmittenhöhe, especially its countless challenging slopes. If your difficulty level of choice is “black”, then look no further! But no worries, there are also beautiful ski slopes for beginners. And the new, stylish cable cars by Porsche Design are just one of the many additional highlights.

Located in the region of Zell am See-Kaprun in the province of Salzburg you will find the amazing Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Almost 365 days a year you can enjoy snow and ice upon the glacier.

Our recommendation for the summer:   skiing in the morning and in the afternoon golfing or swimming in the lake Zell!). Loads of natural snow, demanding free-ride-routes, snowparks for snowboarders, an ice camp and the exhibition of “Gipfelwelt 3000“  - a visit an Mount Kitzsteinhorn is a great pleasure for every skier.

Not far from Zell am See is the ski resort of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. 200 km slopes, snow parks, 10 km of trails, speed tracks, carving runs and much more is waiting for you. We recommend you that you explore one day the slopes of Saalbach-Hinterglemm - you can take a ski bus from the post office in Zell am See.

Winter hiking in Zell am See-Kaprun

It’s possible to feel utter happiness even without skis at 2,000 meters altitude: winter hikers claim they enjoy the crisp mountain air, exquisite landscapes and sweeping panoramas even more than skiers. The only thing you need are good winter hiking boots (with a proper profile sole) and hiking or touring sticks. Snacks are unnecessary, it’s more fun to stop by one of the huts along the winter hiking route and take advantage of the specialties on offer.
