Explore the local mountain – the Schmittenhöhe
By foot or with the cable car on “Austria’s most beautiful viewpoint”: the Schmittenhöhe (2,000).
Hotel St. Georg guests can use the cable car to the Schmittenhöhe for free with the Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card.
This mountain owes its nickname to its extraordinary position in the midst of the Austrian High Alps. Not less than thirty 3,000m-summits, among them the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn and the Großvenediger, appear on the horizon.
For the ones keen to know all about the hiking trails, the diverse hiking-week program will be of use. A local hiking guide will accompany you and explain the diversity of the montane environment to you while telling you an old story or two. The scent of the herbs and the sight of the alpine flowers will guarantee a couple of nice hours on the mountain.

State Capital Salzburg
“Jedermann” is going to Salzburg – the city of Mozart, festivals, cathedral, stronghold, culture and shopping.
Just take the train (tip: the “Einfach raus” ticket for the whole family or friends) or go by car for approximately 1 hour to reach this beautiful city. With the “Mönchsbergaufzug” you will be above the roofs of Salzburg in 30 seconds to enjoy the magnificent lookout terrace, the museum of modernity and walk towards the stronghold Hohensalzburg. The audio guide tour, leading through the interiors with the regency rooms, the museums and the torture chamber, is worth recommending.
The cathedral quarters are more than a museum: baroque power and glory! A unique symbiosis of architecture, art and history are connecting the baroque state rooms with opulent collections. Unknown views on the city are changing with deep insights into the cathedral and the Gothic choir of the Franziskaner church.
